Both injuries and poor form has hampered Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus‘ chances of breaking into Mikel Arteta‘s starting XI at Arsenal this season. The 27-year-old has only managed to claim a single goal in all competitions this season, with the strike coming in the Carabao Cup.

Jesus has also failed to find the net or make an assist in the 12 appearances he made in the PL this season, with just two starts. Amidst his poor form, the player has been linked with a move away from the Emirates in January.

However, manager Mikel Arteta has put an end to the same, with a stern message to the press.

No, nonsense. We’re going to support him as much as possible. Like all strikers, he’s going through phases and moments.

Many fans on social media believe that Jesus’ poor form has directly resulted in Arsenal‘s over-reliance on set pieces to score. This has been evident in the club’s most recent games, including the 2-0 win over Manchester United. The club was fairly neutralized by Premier League side Fulham in a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.

The 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Premier League has put Arsenal’s chances in the title race in a precarious situation. Liverpool currently holds a six-point lead over the Gunners, with a game in hand.

We want to win everything basically. I think that’s the feeling from everyone in the squad and the team that we want to do something really special. We want to win trophies. We want to win every time we play.

Martin Odegaard told the press

In the Champions League, the club is currently in 10th position and two points away from getting into the top eight. As things stand, Arsenal is in third position in the Premier League, behind Liverpool and Chelsea.
