Arsenal may have claimed a convincing 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday. However, the Gunners were dealt a significant blow. They got to know that star man Bukayo Saka suffered an injury in the game against Palace.

The Englishman’s game against the Eagles came to an early end, as he was forced off the pitch in the 24th minute. In the press conference following the game, Mikel Arteta didn’t seem very pleased as he spoke of the player’s injury.

He felt something in his hamstring. He couldn’t continue. Pretty worried about that one. They have tested him, but very difficult to say how bad it is.

Saka was seen clutching his hamstring, visibly in discomfort, before the player was replaced by Leandro Trossard. Saka has made 16 appearances in the Premier League this season, with five goals and ten assists (most in PL so far) to his name.

Bukayo Saka has been crucial to Arteta’s plans this season, with the 23-year-old’s assist catalogue being out of this world. Many fans, including Mikel Arteta himself, are worried if the player has relapsed after recently recovering from a similar injury.

Arsenal demolish Crystal Palace 5-1 at Selhurst Park

Arsenal went in to the game against Crystal Palace having already beaten the club 3-2 a few days ago. While it was a Gabriel Jesus hat-trick that steered the Gunners to victory last time around, four different Arsenal stars got on the scoresheet on Saturday.

After the hat-trick on Thursday, Jesus opened the scoring against Palace again in the 6th minute. This came after reacting quickly to a loose ball inside the penalty area. Ismaila Sarr then pulled one back within five minutes to make it 1-1.

However, it was to be one-way traffic henceforth, starting with Jesus’ second goal. The Brazilian showed why he ‘deserves’ a spot in Arteta’s starting XI with a composed finish. Jesus nearly scored a hat-trick in the 38th minute, although his header to the far post came back off the post. However, Kai Havertz reacted quickly to turn the ball into the net, making it 3-1.

The second half saw Gabriel Martinelli make it 4-1 from point blank range before Declan Rice inflicted the final wound on Palace. The Englishman’s impressive attempt from just inside the edge of the penalty area evaded the reach of Dean Henderson and into the bottom right corner. The 5-1 win means that Arsenal stands in third position, with 33 points from 17 games.
