In Short
  • Miles Bridges accused Isaiah Stewart of "grabbing hair" during a scuffle in the Hornets vs. Pistons game.
  • The altercation led to the ejection of four players, including Bridges and Stewart, who may face suspensions.
  • The Pistons won the game 110-104, ending the Hornets' nine-game winning streak and improving their record to 39-13.

Both Isaiah Stewart and Miles Bridges were in the spotlight for the wrong reasons once again. The Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets were the two in form teams in the East heading into Monday’s fixture. In the end, the Pistons recorded a closely fought 110-104 victory over the Hornets at the Spectrum Center.

The Pistons continued their fine form and improved their record to 39-13 as they sit at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. Meanwhile, the loss ended the Hornets’ nine-game winning streak. The loss dropped them to 25-29. They remain at 10th place in the standings and are in strong contention for the play-in spots.

While the match itself was an enthralling contest between two in form sides, the third quarter saw four players ejected after an on-court altercation. It was a wild brawl that saw Charlotte duo Moussa Diabate and Miles Bridges and Pistons pair Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart get ejected. They could all face suspension after being tossed from the heated contest.

This is not the first time Stewart has been involved in a heated brawl in his career. It appears to be a recurring theme for the young center. Similarly, Bridges, known for his infamous domestic violence past, seemed to attempt to take a swing at Duren. Stewart, who was on the bench, did not waste any time and charged to confront the Hornets forward. The two exchanged some punches before being separated.

Following the heated contest, Bridges took to social media to express his thoughts on what happened. He commented on an Instagram post.

The enforcer was grabbing hair he wasn’t tryna box fr.

Tempers flared between the two sides during the third quarter when Diabate and Duren butted heads. Duren made contact with Diabate’s face with his hand, sparking a physical response as multiple players got involved and the coaches tried to break things up. It remains to be seen if the players involved face a lengthy suspension.

Jaylen Brown reacts to Hornets-Pistons brawl

There is a reason why Isaiah Stewart is nicknamed “Beef Stew”. He has been involved in several incidents over the last few seasons. One player who knows a thing or two about Stewart’s wild side is Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

Brown is known for sharing unfiltered opinions on his stream. The former Finals MVP reacted to what took place on Monday night.

If a dude takes his hand and mush your face like that..I ain’t gon lie somebody gotta die.

Brown seemed to be on Diabate’s side after watching the clip. While the events that unfolded were unfortunate, Brown felt that Duren putting his hand on Diabate’s face was unacceptable and deserved a response.

Emotions flared in an overly competitive game

In the third quarter, when the Pistons were up by eight, it was clear that the brawl started because of Duren’s actions after the two went chest-to-chest, sparking a confrontation that lasted more than 30 seconds.

Duren spoke about the incident in his post-match locker-room interview.

Just an overly competitive game, emotions flaring. At the end of the day we would love to keep it basketball, but things happen. As a group we’ve done an okay job in kinda handling that energy and intensity. But at the end of the day like I said emotions got high.

With multiple ejections and the optics of swinging/chasing, this is the type of play the NBA reviews quickly after the game. The NBA are expected to issue a statement very soon.
