Aaron Rodgers never shies away from making his opinions known, and his latest take divided social media. The veteran New York Jets quarterback made his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and, in a calm voice, vented his frustration about former players turned football analysts criticizing current players.
Rodgers mainly highlighted personality-driven content being peddled to stay relevant rather than providing meaningful insights into football. He phrased his statement in a way that was bound to blow up, and it did.
The Super Bowl winner further remarked that such personalities are in this line of work to garner celebrity status and even called some of their statements asinine compared to how they used to be back in the mid-2000s.

Naturally, it ticked off several who made their names in this line of work despite no prior connection with the Gridiron. Mina Kimes came out all guns blazing during Thursday’s edition of First Take.
Kimes smiled and defended herself and her colleagues, pointing out that Rodgers was doing the same gig as them.

So in a roundabout way, Rodgers was criticizing his own colleagues for doing what they are paid to do. Moreover, Kimes questioned the time and validity of Rodgers’ statement, considering the Jets are 3-10 and haven’t played postseason football for 14 straight years.
Kimes added that Rodgers’ failure to change the culture at the Jets has increased the scrutiny and criticism. And it’s not like the Jets are the only team in a similar situation. The Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Giants, and even the Cincinnati Bengals face much criticism because of how they perform on the turf.
This sort of back-and-forth between players and TV analysts is not an isolated event. A few years ago, Super Bowl winner Richard Sherman called out Skip Bayless directly on live television for excessive scrutiny of his game. Bayless ended up leaving ESPN shortly after to sign with FOX.
