Minecraft has a variety of mobs that are found in all the dimensions throughout the game. Here we take a look at the Minecraft Cave Spider and all its features.
Minecraft has many mobs that roam the overworld and while some are the friends of the players, some try to hurt the player on sight. These are hostile mobs and are called monsters, which spawn in the dark and try to kill the players.
Here is one such insectoid mob called the Minecraft cave Spider and we take a look at all its features and how to beat it.
Minecraft Cave Spider
The Cave Spider is a variant of the normal spider mob that holds poisons in its fangs and live in mineshafts. These are the only spider variants that are poisonous upon natural generation.

Spawns and Location
They spawn from only spawners in Mineshafts at a light level of less than 7. On the location of the spawner, the corridor is surrounded by cobwebs and players need to break them to reach the spiders.
Behaviour and Attacks
- They are neutral in daylight or if illuminated by light level 9 or higher. They will not attack the player during this state, voluntarily.
- When night, or the light level is less than 9, they are hostile and attack the player.
- They will also chase player over walls or can even climb tall structurers.
- They attack by leaping on the player and inflicting poison on them. On Hard mode, this lasts for 15 seconds and causes 10 health damage. However, it cannot kill he player as it stops when player health reaches 1 health point.
- They are smaller than spiders and can fit through blocks of one block.
- Minecraft Cave Spiders are unaffected by poison and the sticky cobwebs.
- Players can easily kill them with the Bane of Arthropods Enchantment on their weapon.
Drops
On death, cave Spiders in Minecraft drop:
- 0-2 Strings
- 5 EXP Orbs
- Spider Eye
