Mirra Andreeva has had an inconsistent run this summer. The Russian won her first Grand Slam title this year at Roland Garros, becoming the 6th different Grand Slam champion since the start of 2025.

However, Andreeva hasn’t been able to gather the form that made her victorious in Paris. The left-hander has had two early exits at Wimbledon and the Canadian Open.

At Cincinnati, she is optimistic about bringing back the form she showed on the Paris dirt. She was speaking to the Tennis Channel about it.

It wasn’t easy, of course, considering the results I had after Paris. It’s not easy to try to play at such a high level after winning the tournament you’ve always dreamed of. I tried to use every loss to gain experience after Paris, but mentally it wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t easy for my game either. Now I’m trying to forget what happened and move on. Right now, my focus is on Cincinnati because I love playing here.

Andreeva showed signs of progression during the early part of the clay-court season. The teenager reached the WTA Masters 1000 final at the Madrid Open, where she lost to Marta Kostyuk.

However, Roland Garros was where she really showed her credentials. As a result of so many high-seeded players losing early in the tournament, Andreeva won the tournament without playing a single top-10 seed.

Mirra Andreeva Recalls Four-Day Celebration After Roland Garros Win

Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva also looked back on her four-day celebration after conquering the Paris clay. The Russian bought a bag as part of her celebrations.

I didn’t buy anything at first… Well, I’m lying. I bought a very nice bag. It wasn’t especially expensive, but I had wanted it for quite some time. I only had four days of rest because we had to return to training and transition to grass, so I didn’t have much time to celebrate, but four days is better than nothing. It’s a black, very simple Louis Vuitton bag. I wanted something I could carry everywhere, and I love it.

Andreeva did achieve considerable heights before Roland Garros. However, the win on the Paris clay was of a different magnitude.

In 2025, Andreeva won her first two Masters 1000 titles at the Dubai Championships and the Indian Wells Open. However, her best Grand Slam results last year were quarterfinal appearances at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

With the Grand Slam question now answered, she can be much more relaxed about her performances going into the US Open. Many analysts hype her to carry the Russian flag in women’s tennis, similar to Maria Sharapova. The comparisons are there because both players had breakthroughs very early in their careers.

Mirra Andreeva Highlights Aggressiveness as key to Cincinnati’s opening win

Fifth seed Mirra Andreeva answered her critics at the Cincinnati Open with a commanding performance against Oleksandra Oliynykova. The left-hander is eyeing her third Masters 1000 title and the first of the 2026 season. After the match, she considered her aggressive game plan pivotal to her win.

I tried that every time I had a break point, it was like ‘boom goes the dynamite.’ I aimed to play very aggressively, look for my shots, and not give her the opportunity to take the initiative. After the match, we continued working on my serve because I wasn’t satisfied with the number of double faults I had made. We spent about 15 to 20 minutes refining my shots and doing some exchanges. It was something I think I needed after the match.

Andreeva lost only one game en route to reaching the Round of 32 in Ohio. Her match against Oliynykova was overshadowed by political interests because both players represented Russia and Ukraine, respectively.

However, there was no mercy shown by the Roland Garros champion in this match. Although she had 6 double faults, she saved all 7 break points and broke her opponent’s serve 5 times in 12 attempts.
