Mirra Andreeva continued her impressive run of form at the Miami Open, extending her winning streak to 13 matches on Tour. The 17-year-old recently received an extra-special shootout after her Indian Wells victory from NBA legend LeBron James. After her win on Friday (March 21), she revealed that she would frame the NBA star’s congratulations.

Andreeva has made her mark this season by dramatically beating WTA’s Top players. The World No.6 claimed her first WTA 1000 title in Dubai after defeating Clara Tauson in the final. She then pulled an extraordinary performance in Indian Wells, beating Iga Swiatek and then Aryna Sabalenka to win the title.

The NBA star reacted to the 17-year-old by congratulating her on Instagram. In Miami, the Russian teenager continued with her form, beating Veronika Kudermetova 6-0, 6-2 in the second round.

During her on-court interview, she was asked how she felt receiving a big shout-out from LeBron James on social media. She revealed that she was going to frame the quote and carry with her each time she travels.

I think I’m gonna frame it. I already have Andy Murray’s tweet framed so I think I’m gonna try to do the same. I’m gonna frame it and it’ll travel with me all the time.

Andreeva’s victory over Kudermetova was her 20th match win of the season. She remains the only player to have reached these heights, with Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek both tied on 19 wins, while in the men’s circuit, Felix Auger-Aliassime tops with 17 wins. Carlos Alcaraz sits in second with 15 wins.

Mirra Andreeva says she needs to adapt to the Miami Open conditions

Mirra Andreeva looks to be moving forward with an accelerating pace this season. The Russian earned her first win in Miami after beating a former Top 10 player, Veronika Kudermetova, in the second round. However, due to her deep run in Indian Wells, she has yet to get used to the weather conditions and surface of the Miami Open. She said after her win that she’s focused on adapting to the conditions.

Honestly, I felt like I still need a little bit more time to get used to the conditions, so I just tried to put as many balls in the court as I can, and tried to defend. But it felt good, I’ll be honest.

Mirra Andreeva said via Miami Open press

Andreeva only dropped two sets in Indian Wells. She will be hoping to do the same in Miami Open. However, it’s going to be difficult considering the length of matches she has played in, her tank may run dry in difficult moments of the Florida-based WTA 1000 tournament. Also, fatigue may be a problem for her but considering her age, she’s capable of withstanding the storm.

Mirra Andreeva to face Amanda Anisimova in the third round in Miami

Mirra Andreeva will now face Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the Miami Open. Anisimova also recently made her marks at the Qatar Open, where she won her first WTA 1000 title. The American cruised through her opening match in Miami, defeating Egypt’s Mayar Sherif 6-2, 6-2.
