Mirra Andreeva has been on outstanding form this season which has already seen her win the Dubai Tennis Championships. She took the form to another level by advancing into the fourth round of Indian Wells for the first time in her career after beating Clara Tauson. She reveals the reason behind her rise in 2025.
The Russian teenager has already earned two wins at Indian Wells, extending her winning streak to eight matches in a row. She’s now the youngest player to win eight consecutive WTA 1000 matches since the introduction of the format in 2009. Reaching the fourth round of Indian Wells means Andreeva has reached her seventh WTA 1000 Round of 16.
The World No.11 advanced to the stage after defeating Clara Tauson on Sunday (March 9). The third-round encounter was a rematch of the Dubai Tennis Championships final, which Andreeva won in three sets. In Indian Wells, she bamboozled the World No.21 6-3, 6-0 to mark her 15th win of the season.
During her press conference, she was asked about what has led to her meteoric rise this season. The 17-year-old revealed that the freedom she has begun to feel on the court has motivated her to play with a clear goal.
During the last Roland Garros, I had that feeling, I felt quite secure throughout the tournament. Now too, it’s great to win so many matches in a row, I can’t complain. I have been playing well lately, I like it, I feel that I know exactly what I want to do on the court. For example, in some previous tournaments, I depended a bit on the match, but now I go out there and no matter who I play against, the ball comes to me and I know what to do. I just feel that if everything is clear in my head, I know exactly what to do with the ball. It’s a good feeling, I hope to maintain it for as long as I can.

Andreeva is now seeking to win two consecutive WTA 1000 titles in Indian Wells. The 17-year-old already has two WTA titles. She will be hoping to add to the tally and continue with her good form this season.
Mirra Andreeva says nothing has changed about her despite her historic Dubai Championships victory
Mirra Andreeva climbed to the mountaintop of fame after beating Aryna Sabalenka at the 2024 French Open to reach the semifinals. The World No.11 also recently made headlines after becoming the youngest player to ever win a WTA 1000 title in Dubai. She also attained a career-high ranking of World No.9 following the success.

However, nothing has changed about how she feels about herself. During the aforementioned press conference, she added she doesn’t know whether her success has made other players on the WTA Tour fear her.
I have no idea how they react when they see my name in the draw, I don’t know. From my side, I feel the same as always with most players, when we see each other, we say hello, ask how you are, that’s it. I don’t feel any change, I would say it’s all the same… Yes, I would like to know their reaction when they see my name in the draw because I don’t know.
