Lois Boisson continued her Cinderella run at the 2025 French Open to reach her maiden Grand Slam semi-finals. The French star defeated Mirra Andreeva, who received a code of violation after furiously striking a ball into the Roland Garros crowd that kept booing her for the majority of her clash against Boisson.

Andreeva let her emotions get the better of her against Boisson as the crowd supported the local star. The 18-year-old imploded after finding her 3-0 lead in the second set cut short by Boisson, who won three consecutive games and then led 3-3 (30-0) in the seventh game due to an error by her opponent.

A clearly agitated Andreeva took some steps forward before aggressively hammering a ball into the stands with her racket. That got members of the crowd angry, and as a result, loudly booing the teenager for outbursts. That led the umpire to give her a code of warning, issuing a warning over her behavior on the court.

However, in the first set of the match, Andreeva complained to the umpire that the crowd was too noisy, and that was affecting her game. That happened after she hit a double fault during the first-set tiebreak as she went to the umpire and urged the officials to calm the partisan crowd.

It didn’t just end there; Andreeva had another spat with the umpire after Boisson delayed a point after challenging a call that determined that Andreeva’s forehand shot had landed long. In the end, Boisson defeated the No.6 seed 7-6(6), 6-3 to become the first French woman to reach the semi-finals of the Roland Garros since Marion Bartoli in 2011. After the match, Andreeva gave a mature response about the French crowd booing her.

Well, I can say that, obviously, I expected it. Normally, they would support a French player. I knew it would be like this. In the first set, I think I managed it pretty well. I didn’t really pay attention to that. Obviously, with nerves and pressure, it became a little harder. I think I can learn from this. So nothing more I can say for now.

Andreeva reached the semi-finals of the French Open last year after beating Aryna Sabalenka. At this year’s edition, the Russian teenager has failed to reach her last year’s finish but should be proud of her run at the tournament. She will now have to learn from her loss to Boisson and hope to bounce back in the grass-court season.

Lois Boisson says her goal is now to win the French Open

Boisson claimed her first Top 10 win of her career against Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals. The French star then earned another top victory against Mirra Andreeva in two hours and eight minutes. Her achievement at this year’s Roland Garros will be remembered for a long time. After the match against Mirra Andreeva, she revealed how she now dreams of winning the Roland Garros.

I don’t really think about what will be next, you know, the ranking, Wimbledon, and everything. I just try to stay focus in this tournament now. I really enjoy everything that I leave here on the court and outside the court. So I will see this after. For now I just have to prepare the match of tomorrow. I think every kids who play tennis have the dream to win a slam. More for French player to win Roland Garros, for sure. So, yeah, it’s a dream. For sure I will go for the dream, because my dream is to win it, not to be in the semifinal. So I will try to do my best for it.

Boisson will face Coco Gauff for a place in the French Open final. She will have the immense support of the crowd, which will be a bonus for her against an in-form Gauff in the semi-finals.
