Any die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan was of the thought that veteran superstar LeBron James would wind up retiring wearing the iconic purple and gold jersey.

Before the season started, he used retirement rumors to send the sports world into a tizzy with his cognac commercial. That even led to a Lakers fan suing him, which he then settled out of court.

Then, after some initial fatigue-related hiccups after returning from his sciatica, the 41-year-old has worked himself to play the best basketball he can muster.

Those retirement conversations seemingly vanished after everyone realized that there was no way the King would retire when he is still capable of playing better basketball than many players half his age.

That has changed over the last few weeks. A bombshell ESPN article pointed out that the relationship between governor Jeanie Buss and LeBron James might be strained.

Then, the Cleveland Cavaliers made it clear that they would like it if their prodigal son returned and retired wearing the jersey in which he started his stellar career.

My sources told me that Donovan Mitchell and James Harden already are starting the push to go and recruit LeBron James in the offseason… Soon as James Harden got on the phone or got around the team we about to make this run, we about to go all out. But we want James.

Kendrick Perkins said on the Road Tripping Show

The former center, who was once a teammate of the four-time champion on the Cavaliers, said this after speaking to team sources. Even though show host Allie Clifton tried to dampen that claim with a Jaylon Tyson reference, Kendrick Perkins stuck to his news.

Former champion believes LeBron James’ Lakers need a complete makeover

One of the reasons for all these conversations surrounding LeBron James‘ future is because of how the current Lakers roster is structured. With decisions made with a focus on the future, former NBA champion Paul Pierce believes the team needs a complete makeover.

They need a whole makeover. They need to go to Colombia, then Turkey. Because right now they are in Dubai… Because right now we know what’s going on out there… Lakers fans are delusional. They are so delusional, they still think they can win it all this year… They have no shot. You can bet the whole USA the Lakers won’t win it and double up on the USA.

Paul Pierce said on No Fouls Given

The Boston Celtics great believes that delusional Lakers’ fans have to stop believing that their team can go anywhere near the NBA Finals. Rather, they should demand that their top brass rejig the team.

However, it is too late, as the trade deadline passed with the Lakers trading for sharpshooter Luke Kennard. That deal also led longtime fan Gilbert Arenas to have a crash-out on his show.

Fans are betting on LeBron James’ chances of attending the Super Bowl

After ending their long and enduring eight-game road trip, the Los Angeles Lakers are back playing at home. Their next game will be against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

Once that game ends, maybe LeBron James could hitch a ride with the Golden State Warriors back to San Francisco. After all, he makes it a point to watch the Super Bowl live.

With the game being held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, it would not be a surprise if the four-time league MVP takes time out to watch another sport he dearly loves.

Fans, too, have been banking on him attending, as the current betting probability of him watching the biggest sporting spectacle of the season stands at 57%.
