Harrison Butker‘s controversy-mired speech has given rise to many conflicts. On one hand, some of the beliefs expressed by the kicker go against the modern notions and the commitment of the NFL to be more inclusive of women. On the other hand, the masses who disagree with the opinions expressed by Butker are attempting to put his life at risk.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker was doxxed by the official account of Kansas City after his speech at Benedictine College. The term doxxed is a modern reference to the process of revealing personal information with respect to the contact details and addresses of an individual without their consent.

The very city that he represents and plays for in the NFL was quick to turn against him. Now that his personal information is out there, Butker is in a vulnerable position.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey came out in defense of Harrison Butker as he was quick to issue a statement after the kicker was being blasted over his speech.
My office is demanding accountability after Kansas City doxxed Harrison Butker last night for daring to express his religious beliefs. I will enforce the Missouri Human Rights Act to ensure Missourians are not targeted for their free exercise of religion. Stay tuned.Attorney General Andrew Bailey posted on X
The act he referred to prohibits actions taken on the basis of one’s religious beliefs.
The Attorney General has directed Kansas City Mayor’s office to turn over the communications relating to the controversial post
The post which read “Just a reminder that Harrison Butker lives in the City of Lee’s Summit,” was shortly deleted. The AG was infuriated at this behavior and has directed Mayor Quinton Lucas‘ office to share the communications of his office with respect to this post.
Butker’s speech has created two sides, one side is filled with those from a modern school of thought that strongly believe he deserves to be canceled for publicly being sexist and antisemitic.

On the other hand, Butker’s popularity amongst the Conservatives has surged. Within days, his jersey quickly became one of the top-selling ones online. Conservative reps have come to his defense and embraced him for his opinions. Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican, went as far as to post an image of him and Butker while captioning it with “Never more proud to call Harrison Butker my friend” on his official X account.

The NFL, on the other hand, was quick to distance itself from Butker as Jonathan Beane, the league’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, issued a statement.
Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.Jonathan Beane’s statement
Ultimately, if you agree or disagree with the opinions shared by Butker, he did not break any laws. His opinions are just that, limited to his beliefs and stemming from his faith. In this free country, you cannot punish an individual over their faith even if it means they have extremely controversial takes.
The road ahead for Butker remains uncertain as a petition demanding the Kansas City Chiefs fire him has picked up traction with nearly 150,000 people signing it. It is unlikely that he will lose his job, but this has affected his marketability and, most likely, the relationships he will have with his teammates.
