The New York Yankees lost two of their stars to the New York Mets in this offseason. After landing Juan Soto on a 15-year $765 million deal, the Mets roped in pitcher Clay Holmes. The two of them shined on their Spring Training debut with the team. Following this, an MLB Analyst taunted the Yankees.

Soto had an incredible 2024 season with the Yankees as he hit a career-high 41 home runs last season. Meanwhile, Holmes was an important part of the Yankees bullpen for a few years now. Both of these stars would become free agents and later join the Mets.

In his first Spring Training at-bat with the Mets, Soto did what many had been expecting of him. He would crush a 426-foot home run off left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon. His home run in the first inning gave the Mets a 1-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Clay Holmes threw three perfect innings against the Astros. He managed to pick up 3 strikeouts in the 34 pitches which he threw in his first start as a starting pitcher in a while.

Following the game, MLB analyst Ben Verlander would taunt the Yankees fans on X. He would repost a tweet from SNY and drop an 8-word reaction.

The Mets went on to win the game 6-2 and started off their Spring Training campaign with a huge win. Their next game will see them take on the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Juan Soto comments on his first home run with Mets in Spring Training

Juan Soto seemingly broke the internet in December when he joined the New York Mets on the record-breaking $765 million deal. With that deal, he knew that the spotlight would be on him. He would silence his critics with a home run in his very first at-bat with the Mets.

After homering in his first at-bat with his new team, the 4-time MLB All-Star claimed it was “pretty good” and said that the hardwork they are doing is paying off.

It feels pretty good. It means everything that we’ve been doing is paying off. We have been working really hard this offseason to be ready and be in good shape.

Soto would later hilariously reveal how his teammate Jesse Winker had the ‘worst reaction’ of everyone after his home run. During the celebrations in the dugout, Soto accidentally stepped on the foot of Winker and left his teammate crying in pain.

I feel like everybody was really happy. I would say the worst reaction was Jesse Winker, that I stepped on him. He was really in pain, but he was happy at the same time.

So far Soto has made a good impression on his new teammates. A few days ago he made waves across social media after a gesture to Brett Braty. After the Mets star gave up his No.22 for Soto, the former Yankees, Padres, and Nationals star gifted his teammate his ‘dream’ SUV car at the Spring Training.
