The world of sports received a major shock on Sunday night when WWE icon John Cena turned heel. This development left the internet buzzing as the 16-time World Champion turned his back on the fans. An MLB analyst would later drop the name of Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout to explain this heel turn in MLB terms.
At the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE in Toronto, Cena competed in his final Chamber match to earn a chance to face the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes for a title match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
Following his victory on Sunday, Rhodes would come out to the ring and congratulate Cena. They were then interrupted by “The Final Boss”, The Rock, who wanted an answer from Rhodes regarding his offer. After Rhodes turned down the chance to “sell his soul” to The Rock, he would share a hug with John Cena.
The Rock would later use the throat-slitting gesture, which led to unprecedented scenes. Cena would low blow Rhodes and delivered a brutal beatdown thus turning heel for the first time in over two decades.
Fans on social media were left shocked with this. Popular analyst Jared Cannabis was one of many who would make their feelings known regarding this. An MLB fan would later ask him to explain this move in MLB terms. Cannabis thus proceeded to name-drop Mike Trout.
Mike Trout demands a trade to the Dodgers, wins MVP and World Series MVP and then tells baseball fans to fuck off for saying he didn’t care about winning.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, the American international backed himself and claimed that he still believes that he is the “best player” on the field.
I know where I’m at. I know when I’m out there I still feel I’m the best player on the field. I just got to be out there, and you know that’s the whole mindset coming into spring, coming into the year. Enjoy it, have some fun, and you know, play.

A few days ago, the MLB Network would release the list of top 100 players in the league at the moment. Trout, who has sat at the top of this list on multiple occasions, was ranked 39th this year. He is now fired up to prove his doubters wrong.
The 2025 season will see a change in him. He will transition as a right fielder starting this season and move on from the center field. It remains to be seen how this field change would turn out for him.
