Former players react as Barry Bonds was banished from the Baseball Hall of Fame

Barry Bonds never won a World Series title

In his 10th year on the ballot, legendary hitter Barry Bonds has been denied the honour of being inducted into the Hall of Fame, banishing him from uptown New York. Bonds has been on the ballot for 10 years and never managed to bag the requisite 75 per cent of the vote.

The only seven-time MVP and the only seven-time Cy Young winner’s fate has been sealed and there will be no bronze plaque for one of the bests to have played the sport. And it boils down to his involvement in the steroid saga back in the 2000s. Along with Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa and Curt Schilling‘s hopes of getting into the Baseball Hall of Fame were squashed too.

Red Sox’s David Ortiz was the only player who was inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Netizens ed by former players expressed their concern as the legendary duo of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens failed to make it to the HOF. The sp[orting world has been divided with the majority rallying in Barry’s support.

The fate of four of the best in the history of the sport now lies in the hands of the 16-member Today’s Game Era Committee. The committee will meet in December to put them on a ballot where only 10 players can be placed and 12 votes are needed to be inducted. It is the last hope for the all-time greats to enter the HOF.
