Dennis Eckersley was a 6-time MLB All-Star and played from 1975 to 1998 in the league. In the thick of the freezing climate in the United Stated, a mother was caught leaving her son out in the open leaving the child to die out in cold. The mother was Alexandra Eckersley, daughter of Dennis Eckersley.
Alexandra was the adopted daughter of the Eckersley family. She is now facing felony charges on account of leaving her new-born child out on the freezing woods, unclothed in the dark. The Officers reported after a complained was filed against a woman who gave birth to a baby in the tent out in the woods.
“Officers responding to a report of a woman who had given birth to a baby. In a tent in the woods near the West Side Arena in Manchester just before 1 a.m. searched the area for an hour after receiving directions from Eckersley, but their efforts proved unsuccessful, Manchester Fire Chief Ryan Cashin said.” Boston 25 News, Frank O’Laughlin and Lindsey Thorpe, staff reported.

Was Dennis Eckersley’s daughter pushed away from her family?
Upon questioning, Alexandra stalled the officers. She did not share the location of the child who was in dire need of help and warmth. She told the police that she wasn’t aware of her pregnancy and was admitted for excess usage of cocaine and marijuana.
Prosecutors detailed out that her parents, Nancy and MLB legend Dennis Eckersley (now divorced), asked her to seek shelter at their home. They offered her treatments for drug usage but she refused and chose to be homeless.
“They had an open offer for her to come home on the condition that she go to treatment for drug use.She obviously made the choice not to,” assistant Hillsborough County attorney Carl Olson said.
The Eckersley family issued a statement in 2019, that Alexandra Eckersley was diagnosed with mental illness. They said, “At age two Allie was diagnosed with mental illness. It worsened considerably through the years, leading to multiple hospitalizations and eventually institutionalization,”
