The race to sign four-time MLB All-Star Juan Soto continues. As teams submit their offer and wait for an answer from him, an MLB insider has ruled out the New York Yankees as a potential destination.
Soto joined the Yankees in December 2023 through a trade by the San Diego Padres. He would go on to have a fantastic 2024 season with the Bronx Bombers as he helped them to their first American League pennant title in 15 years.
After a bitter loss in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Soto informed that he was available to every team in MLB. Fast forward from then to now, five teams have officially submitted an offer for him.
The Yankees are one of those five teams looking to land Soto on a big contract this offseason. However, MLB insider Randy Miller of NJ.com does not see the Dominican star going to the Yankees. He believes that the battle for him will come down between Yankees’ two fierce rivals, New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox.

Miller further added that the Yankees could likely finish fourth in the bidding for Soto. Recently, reports emerged that the 27-time World Series winners had upped their bid for him. As per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, this was done to improve their standings in this $600 million sweepstakes.
Is Juan Soto going to sign with New York Yankees’ rivals, the Boston Red Sox?
Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of Juan Soto. Ever since he declined the qualifying offer and became a free agent, several reports have linked him to various teams. In the past couple of days, several fans have been wondering whether Soto will sign with the rivals of the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox.
As per X user BeyondAvgMick, the 26-year-old has agreed to a long-term deal with the Red Sox. While MLB insider Jeff Passan would later comment on this and seemingly dispel this report, the social media user has backed his reports.
Taking to X, he would repost his tweet and once again drop a massive claim. According to him, Soto will be in Boston this weekend making everything official.
I understand people are on edge and might be skeptical of the report.

I’m told Soto will be in Boston this weekend making everything official.
I’d be stunned if we didn’t get a team announcement by the middle of next week.

As of now, Soto has not signed with any team. It will be interesting to see if this report comes out to be true or not. If it comes out true, it could be a massive blow to the Yankees, who could be left with a major gap in the offense for the 2025 season.
