Monday night marked a memorable one for New York Mets’ batter, Eduardo Escobar, as he became the second player this season to go for a cycle following Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Christian Yelich. He recorded the cycle on 11th May against the Cincinnati Reds. Eduardo Escobar become the first Met to score a cycle in the last 10 years.

The 33-year- old Venezuelan, Eduardo Escobar entered the night having batted .227/.300/.374 (93 OPS+) with four home runs and 18 runs batted in across 223 plate appearances this season.

The New York Mets signed a two-year deal over the course of the offseason that will reward him $20 million, which is undertaken. A club option for the 2024 season that includes a buyout worth $500,000 is included in the deal.

The 33-year-old Eduardo Escobar recorded a single, a double, a triple and a home run. Escobar recorded his fifth homer of the season in the eighth inning. The triple in the ninth inning gave the Mets a 9-5 lead.

Eduardo Escobar singled to the right-centre in the top of the first inning. He doubled to the left centre in the top of the fourth inning. Both of those knocks came against Padres starter Blake Snell. Escobar later dinged one against Craig Stammen in the eighth inning and then tripled against Tim Hill in the top of the ninth.

“This is a great moment. It’s unbelievable,” the New York Mets’ third baseman said. “It’s hard-hitting the cycle at this level. Today’s a special night for me. Most important is the win.”

Eduardo Escobar’s cycle is the first one at Petco Park since 2004 when it opened. New York Mets manager Buck Showalter said, “Any guy is fun to watch, especially him, what he means to his teammates, it’s almost like they hit it.”

New York Mets now hold a record of 38-19 in the National League East, continuing their record run in the National League. San Diego Padres after the 11-5 loss stand at a record of 33-22 only second to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West
