“It could be, it might be, it’s a home run”- Aaron Judge continues unstoppable streak, scores historic 40th Home Run
Aaron judge's 40th HR
The American League-leading Yankees defeated the Royals 11-5 on Friday, increasing their lead in the AL East to 68-33, thanks to another outstanding performance from All-Star right fielder Aaron Judge. Judge, who will be a free agent this winter, is attempting to position himself as one of the highest-paid players in the game when he signs his next contract.
On Friday night, Judge hit his 40th and 41st home runs, the second of which was a grand slam that put the game out of reach in the eighth inning. Then in the eighth inning, Judge put an exclamation point on his day, hitting a grand slam for No. 41 that turned a close game into a blowout.
Aaron Judge is one home run away from making history
Aaron Judge’s 40th home run was historic, as he became only the third Yankee to do so before the end of July. What about the previous two? Babe Ruth hit 41 home runs before the end of the 1928 season, and Roger Maris hit 40 home runs before the end of the 1961 season.
With two games left in the month of July, Judge is one home run away from breaking the franchise record for most round-trippers hit before the month of August. The Yankees keep charging toward the postseason, hoping to win their first World Series title since 2009. If they win the championship this fall, their All-Star are likely to play a significant role.
