Aaron Judge’s teammate who shares the same first name as his, Aaron Hicks, has had a tough time playing at the Yankees. While he finally got his much-desired playing time in Yankee’s game against the Phillies, it did not go as fruitful as Hicks might have expected it to be.

Hicks was booed by a crowd of Yankees fans at the stadium as his name was announced on the team lineup. He was booed ever further following a strike-out in the bottom of the fifth, with the Yankees having a six-run lead.

Being a responsible captain, Aaron Judge tried to encourage Hicks to not lose hope and blocked the camera while Hicks was there at the bat rack. However, many people feel that even a friendly and encouraging pat from the Yankees captain is far from anything to encourage Hicks to play in his top form.

People have noticed how Aaron Judge never fails to back his teammate, one who has shared the locker room with him since 2016. However, it seems like Hicks is falling out of favor within the Yankees and is disappointed with the role he has to play in the team.

Fans have expressed that after getting play time while Hicks might be fighting his way for some game time, Aaron Boone is also well aware of the concerns that was voiced to him by Hicks before the game against Philadelphia. Boone refused to comment on Hicks and when asked about Hicks speaking to him, he says, “A little bit. We’ve had our conversations.”

Boone further adds,  “But, again … the last few weeks of spring training, I feel like he was doing a lot of really good things on both sides of the ball. So bottom line is that — continue to play like I know that he’s capable of and you earn more and more opportunities. But there are competition for those things right now.”

In the spring training games, Hicks recorded .293/.408/.390 with oe home run and two RBI in the 18 matches that he has played. With this last match against the Phillies, Hicks has now a career stat of .233/.340/.402 with 80 home runs and 273 RBIs, playing 624 regular season games with the Yankees.
