New York Yankees star right fielder Aaron Judge homered yet again on Friday night in his side’s 12-2, eight-inning, rain-shortened victory over the Kansas City Royals. This marked Judge’s fifth home run during the Yankees’ seven-game winning streak and his third in his last four games in the current Major League Baseball (MLB) season.

Talking about the last match, Judge stated that he’d like to get more consistent, but the results have been eye-popping of late. The 30-year-old is 12-for-35 with a pair of doubles, five homers and 12 RBIs in his last nine games. Moreover, his OPS has jumped to .961, second only to Anthony Rizzo on the Yankees, which are 37-9 whenever Judge homered since 2020.

“I’m still trying to get there,’’ Judge said, as quoted by MLB.com. “I’m grinding out. I’m just focused on getting on base for the guys behind me.

“All I’m really focused on is trying to get on base for the guys behind me. We’ve got some boppers behind me doing their thing, and DJ in front of me. … My job’s simple, just try to touch first base and let the other guys do their thing.”

The California native Judge added: “We saw it there in the first inning, they already had a guy warming up after just four or five batters. Just continue to have quality at-bats, man. We do that, you know, good things are going to happen.”

Commenting on Aaron’s contribution, manager Aaron Boone stated:

It was a weird night out there, with the wind and some things. It was really good to see him, when it wasn’t necessarily easy … [that] he still made pitches when he had to, and gave us a strong five innings on a night when he was kind of grinding.”
