“Records are meant to be broken,” Yankees slugger Aaron Judge welcomes Shohei Ohtani’s admiration of SHATTERING his AL home run record
Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani have been trading home runs left and right since 2022. While the Yankee captain is currently injured, he mentioned he would be happy if the LA Angels star could surpass his AL home run record.

The baseball world continues to be left impressed by the prowess of Shohei Ohtani. The two-way player from Japan leaves no chance of showing the incredible talent he possesses. This has made several experts label him as one of the greatest. Yankee captain Aaron Judge is now one of those who has praised Ohtani. He has also welcomed the Angels superstar to break his American League home run record.
In 2022, Judge set a league-high record. His 62 home runs made him the AL home run king, surpassing the record of another Yankee player, Roger Maris. While Judge continues to get back in shape following his injury, Ohtani was recently asked whether he would like to break the record. This year’ home run leader obliged to it and did mention that he would like to break that record.
“Records are meant to be broken. It’s just a record. It would be exciting for the game if he went out there and got 63-plus. We’ll see what happens,” Judge told reporters. This comes at a time when the LA Angels and NY Yankees get locked into a three-game series. Ohtani slammed his league-leading 35th home run against the Yankees and proceeded to flip the bat in a walk-off win.
Judge later added that he still has a few years left. He claimed that if Ohtani is able to break his record, it would serve as a motivation to do better next season. If Ohtani does stay in the AL this year, he is the odds-on favorite to win the MVP this year.
Aaron Judge admits Shohei Ohtani is a fun player to watch

Very few players are able to leave such a great impression in a short time as Shohei Ohtani has. The 29-year-old year skills, qualities, and style of play have left many players and experts in love with him. The reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge has also admitted his admiration towards the star player and claimed he is a fun one to watch out for.
While he did mention that it was not fun to play against him, he let his inner-fan feelings come out. “It’s fun when you turn on the TV and see that he’s throwing eight innings, striking out ten and hitting two homers in a game” Judge spoke about Ohtani. A stat that has blown away the minds of fans is the similarity between the numbers these two have recorded before the break.
Whether Ohtani will be able to surpass that record of Judge remains to be seen. With the form he is in, very few will bet against it. Another interesting thing could be that these two might be playing together next season if the Yankees are able to sign him from free agency. At the moment the NY side are struggling without their star man Judge.
