The recent MLB postseason matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies saw lighting strict twice, as the Phillies knocked them out for a second season running. While the reigning National League champions dominated the proceedings, a certain comment from Orlando Arcia against Bryce Harper turned this tie into a huge battle. This comment from him also sparked wars between mediapersons Alanna Rizzo and Jake Mintz.
Arcia was unhappy that his comment got leaked. It had been reported that Mintz was the one who reported this dig. Rizzo was left agitated by this and embarked on a fierce rant. She would claim that she was irritated by all these people and how they were ruining baseball for them. Following extreme backlash she has now apologized to Mintz.
She first started on how the players who come in the postseason do not much about the pulse of the team. The MLB Network member then claimed all these people make it worse for the people who cover the team on a daily basis. “Then some j—off comes in the at the end of the season that gets a credential, god only knows why,” she added.
This comment did not go down well with the Baseball Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA). Mintz who is a member of this body was supported by his organization. They would later call out Rizzo’s comments as “unprofessional”.
Jake Mintz glad by Alanna Rizzo’s public apology
Sometimes comments like this can play a huge part in someone’s career. Just like the “atta-boy” comments by Orlando Arcia played a massive role in the Phillies and Bryce Harper knocking them out, these words by Alanna Rizzo were strong. She would become the subject of huge backlash from users on social media regarding her choice of words towards Jake Mintz.
“What I said about Jake was completely inappropriate, it was inaccurate, and it was beyond unprofessional. I got caught up in the heat of the moment,” she said while claiming that she apologized to him privately and is now doing it publicly. Mintz is now glad that she has apologized and appreciated the support he got from everyone else.
He has also urged the others to not drag the issue any more and end it right here. This development serves as an important reminder about the boundaries that are to be set in workplaces, and sports clubhouses, and also the choice of words that could have long-lasting effects. A private moment from Arcia which he shared with his teammates could have remained with them. This will now serve as a huge lesson to everyone involved in this matter.
