St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols prepares his bag to leave the MLB world after inking down retirement papers for the team on Monday. As he had already signed the papers, it is clear that he’ll not be back for another season of MLB. The 11-time All-Star winner will be going down the history of the sport as one of the greatest sluggers.

His glittering 22-year of MLB career included him snatching the All-Star title 11 times, 2-time World Series Champion, 3-time NL MVP, 5-time Fielding Bible Award, and 2-time Gold Glove Award among numerous other achievements. Earlier he had already mentioned his retirement in 2022, but Monday’s announcement made this clear.

During his last postseason appearance, the team won the National League Central division, grabbing a berth in the Wild Card Series with the Philadelphia Phillies. It was on Game 2, where he signaled his final two at-bats. Unfortunately, the Phillies won the round, as Pujols later decided to end his career.
