Albert Pujols has conquered his way to career home run No. 695, the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman and designated hitter Albert Pujols is now just five home runs away from 700. His pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the eighth gave the Cardinals a 2-0 win and series sweep of the Cubs, in Pujols’ final at bat against the Cardinals’ biggest nemesis.

Albert Pujols saw a wave of energy in the Busch Stadium, the vibe returned Sunday when Pujols popped out of the dugout to pinch-hit and delivered in the clutch. He has now homered against 451 different pitchers, an all-time record.

“I’ve been energized by these fans for 12 years in my career, including the playoffs, but on Friday, I felt something different,” Albert Pujols admitted after Sunday’s St. Louis Cardinals’ 2-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.

“When I came in and pinch-hit on Friday in my first at-bat against [Sean] Newcomb, I felt something different. I don’t know what it was, but I felt it. I shared it with my family, and I shared it with my kids who were here and I was like, ‘Wow, this was different.’” continued the delightful Albert Pujols.

“There are times when you take a step back from being locked into the game and you get to be a fan for a minute and experience it the way everybody else does, and that was one of them,” Manager Oliver Marmol said.

“You take a moment and take it all in because what he’s doing is absolutely incredible.” Added Marmol on Albert Pujols insane talent. He said that Albert Pujols dictates the show and has the unique ability to block out pressure of expectations and deliver in a big moment.

Albert Pujols has been in incredible form in his last season of the Major League Baseball, no wonder fans keep chanting that they want to see their talisman for another season. They are definitely sulking as this could be the last few matches for them to witness with Pujols in the line-up.

“That’s why these fans are the best fans in baseball,” Pujols said. “It’s pretty special to be able to do this and share that moment with [the fans]. Definitely, I wanted to do something special.”
