Alex Rodriguez was under investigation by Major League Baseball as there were claims that he took part in an illegal poker game, he was warned a few years ago by the MLB commissioner’s office to steer clear of the underground poker world, but he simply didn’t want to fold ’em. Major League Baseball planned to question him regarding his involvement with several Hollywood actors.

Alex Rodriguez was busy attending a Texas Hold ‘Em game at the Beverly Hills home of record executive Cody Leibel. Cody Leibel was the owner of a label called C-Note Records. Star Magazine wrote in an article in June 2011 that Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees legend, was in company of Hollywood stars Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

“We take this very seriously and have been investigating this matter since the initial allegation,” Major League Baseball issued in a statement indicating that Alex Rodriguez could face possible suspension. “As part of the investigation, the commissioner’s office will interview Mr. Rodriguez.”

Apparently, Alex Rodriguez and his former fellowship used cocaine out in the open and word was that the game turned threatening when two of the players denied paying out their losses of “More than half a million dollars.” The source remained unnamed but it was supposedly another player at the table.

Poker players Dan Bilzerian’s brother Adam Bilzerian confirmed that the 14-time All-Star Alex Rodriguez had been involved in plenty big-money pokers games. “I was surprised to see just how good a poker player Alex is,” Bilzerian said referring to a game played in his private home, “A-Rod won a bunch of money,”

“The truth is still out there somewhere,” the anonymous executive told ESPN. “You get the feeling that Alex says what he thinks he needs to say to get by, and then goes out and does what he wants.”

Alex Rodriguez was first previously “warned” of his underground gambling habits back in 2005 by his team and Bud Selig, the MLB Commissioner. Although, his representative, Richard Rubenstein, had denied the claims then, according to ESPN.
