The Arizona Diamondbacks are heading toward the World Series. The National League West side stunned the favorites, the Philadelphia Phillies at their own turf to book a ticket to this year’s Fall Classic. They have now settled up a date with the Texas Rangers while winning the 2023 National League pennant.
Nicknamed “The Snakes”, the D-Backs bite back at their critics. After falling 2-0 down in the series, the Arizona-based outfit stunned the baseball world by turning it around and winning the series 4-3. A 4-2 Game 7 triumph over the Phillies gives them their second NL pennant and the first since the iconic triumph in 2001.
Surprisingly this was the Phillies’ first Game 7 appearance in their 141-year history. Before this, they had never experienced a Game 7 showdown. So the pressure was on them from the early get-go.
They fell behind early on in the first but quickly leveled it up with a solo home from Alec Bohm. They would soon turn the game around and lead 1-2. However, the D-Backs were in no mood to surrender to them and the crowd. Rookie Corbin Caroll shined brightly as they came back to win the game 4-2 and send the Phillies home.
Ketel Marte named NLCS MVP as hitter powers Arizona D-Backs past Philadelphia Phillies
This year two players in the LCS have risen above all and shocked the world with their incredible performances. While Adolis Garcia stole the show in the ALCS, Ketel Marte has done the same in the NLCS. His hot-hitting postseason streak and clutch efforts saw him being named the MVP of this best-of-seven showdown.
Marte entered the game on the back of a 15-game hit streak. In this game though it seemed, his historic run would come to an end. The 30-year-old center fielder managed to keep this astonishing run alive by hitting a clutch double in the seventh inning. This is now the longest hit streak of any player to start a postseason career in MLB history.

During this amazing run, the hitter went 12-for-31 while batting with an average of .387. While he did not club a home run, he managed four doubles, one triple along with three RBIs and a stolen base. The stats might leave some people unfazed but the ability to get hits and getting in scoring position helped him and his side. The D-Backs fans would be praying that this form of his continues a little longer.
