The Major League Baseball (MLB) is now heading toward the finish line. The final month of the regular season is underway as teams battle it out to reach the latter stages. There are some teams that have already been eliminated and there are some who are on the verge of qualification. One of the teams that has almost booked their place is the Atlanta Braves who registered their 90th win of the season on Saturday.
Reaching the 90-win mark usually seals the deal for the postseason. On some occasions though this figure turns out to be a little less as teams miss out on qualification. The Braves have been the very best team this season. While their record certainly shows that, they crossed this win mark by crushing the Los Angeles Dodgers for a third game running.
The LA Dodgers themselves are a household name. Last season they achieved 111 wins but failed in the early knockout stages. This season once again they are looking like a menacing team. However, the Braves have gone toe-to-toe with them and are currently leading the four games by three games. The Dodgers could get swept in their own backyard on Sunday if they are unable to stop this Braves’ team.
Twitter reacts as Atlanta Braves become first team to cross 90-win mark this season
There is something special about the Atlanta Braves this season. They have outclassed literally every team they have gone up against this season. Recently they wrote history as they became the the fifth team to reach the 11,000-win mark. Another major factor for their strong performance is their offensive power which has fired off.
The quintet of Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna Jr., Marcell Ozuna, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies have exploded with their bats. These players have helped them break their own franchise record for most home runs in a season. Twitter once again hailed them for their victory over the LA Dodgers. One user wrote “best team of all time” while comparing the Braves to some of the great teams before. Here are some other reactions to their 90th win of the season.
The Braves will take the field on Sunday hoping to complete a rare four-game sweep of the Dodgers. If they are successful in doing so, they will lay down a big mark on every other challenger. The question of when they will secure the qualification mark for the postseason is now rising as the fans get excited for another great run in the postseason.
