“Malice at the Palace”: Barnstormers vs Rockets’ controversial end results in massive brawl

If only one thought that brawl are restricted to major leagues, then the Lancaster Barnstormers vs High Point Rockers showdown in the Atlantic League has defied all odds. With a controversial call to end the 10th innings, players as well as umpires were involved in a massive brawl which left everyone utterly shocked.
To talk about the particular incident, in the 10th inning of the Barnstormers vs Rockets’ most recent showdown, the latter team tried to end things on a double play. However the first base umpire P.J. McConville called the batter safe at first. As a result of this controversial call, first baseman, Logan Morrison threw away his bat and gloves in frustration and anger.
Easy the runner was eventually safe, another runner was able to secure the win for Lancaster Barnstormers 3-2 in the extra innings. While one team could be seen rejuvenating on the field, Morrison and several other Rockets members made their way up to the umpires to signify their frustration with such a controversial end.

What was even more interesting to witness? Umpire Nate Caldwell’s show fell off, just when he threw it in anger as Lancaster manager tried to Morrison back, who was filled with rage. As more and more personnel ran into the field, Logan Morrison and Peeples were both ejected by the three-man umpire crew.
With the catastrophic scene ending, both teams and players stood around the right field gate, making way for the umpires to make their way out of the field. The league is set to investigate the matter and possibly handing out suspensions to the culprits. The investigation begins on Thursday.
Having said that, the resilient Lancaster Barnstormers are within a game of .500, losing a tally of 37-38 overall. In the second-half standings, they’re 7-1 and alone in first place in the AL’s North Division.
