In recent days, the Los Angeles Dodgers have found themselves trending on the internet. However, it is not for their impressive victories or dull defeats on the baseball field. They have been under the heat for their decision to re-invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to the Dodgers Stadium for their Pride night celebration on June 16th. Their team pitcher Blake Treinen became the latest athlete to lash at them.

Treinen, who is currently on the 60-day injured list, was among many others left unimpressed by this strange decision by the Dodgers. He joined his fellow teammate, Clayton Kershaw, and pitcher Trevor Williams in blasting the organization for this plan. The franchise had already faced massive backlash earlier and decided to re-take their invitation. They have now taken a sudden turn and re-invited the activist group and apologized for their actions earlier on.

In a lengthy message released through a friend, Treinen expressed his disappointment to see the group being honored as heroes at the Dodger Stadium. He attacked the group later saying “many of their performances are blasphemous, and their work only displays hate and mockery of Catholics and the Christian faith.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers have established themselves as a franchise that supports everyone. Their various works for the community and effortless service have been well appreciated by many. However, the decision to re-invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence has not been well received by the audience. The question now comes to mind is, Who exactly are this group?

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence according to Fox News are a satirical protest group. They are reported to use religious points to aid in issues regarding matters of gender and sex. The activist group is renowned for using anti-Catholic imagery to justify its points. Founded in 1979, the group’s main focus is on LGBT activism.

It will be interesting to see what step the Dodgers take from here on. It is likely that more players will join this movement in lashing at them. The organization has not released any statement or message regarding the new developments they face. Will the Dodgers once again reverse their decision or continue to suffer the heat is something to watch out for.
