“Are you f**king serious?”: Twitter goes berserk as Blue Jays bulldoze the broken-down Red Sox
Blue Jays vs Red Sox
The Toronto Blue Jays have never looked so dominant in their franchise history, as what they did on Friday night at the Fenway Park, setting a record for runs in a 28-5 rout past the resilient Boston Red Sox. Having smashed their previous record (24 runs), which was set in 1974, in just five innings.
Safe to say on a historic night stacked to the rafter and individual firsts, the Blue Jays have entered the second half of the 2022 season with a thundering pace. In the process, they made their intentions clear-cut to each and every team.
Interestingly this was the first time the Toronto-franchise had all of their nine starters register multiple hits and runs. Moreover, Blue Jays’ 28 runs made it just the sixth club in Major League history to reach the spoken off tally. However, they only feel shy of the all-time AL-NL record of 30 runs. Which was previously set by the Texas Rangers all the way back in 2007.
MLB Twitter reacts to Blue Jays thumping Red Sox in blistering fashion
In more than 7,150 games that the Toronto Blue Jays have played in their franchise hit, their fanbase have never experienced a brutal domination of such manner. Having completely out-foxed the opponents to slam a devastating blow, the team which debuted in 1977 has surely left their mark – ‘WIDE and CLEAR’.
“That’s pretty cool. I can’t wrap my head around it just yet,” said Danny Jansen, who has been with the Blue Jays for five years, “How far we’ve come as an organization, the team we have right now and starting the second half like this? It’s a big thing.” Take a look at how MLB Twitter record on the Friday-night bonanza.
The Toronto Blue Jays showcased outstanding individual accolades. Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s six hits left him just one shy of the MLB record of seven, which we can only and only find back in 1975. There’s a long list of players to record six in a game, but Frank Catalanotto is the only other Blue Jays player to pull it off, back in 2004. Unbelievable, Aye?
