As the MLB season rolls on to the final weekdays of August, things are still looking bleak for the New York Yankees. The AL East side are going through one of their worst season this year. Following their series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, the team is now facing the scenario of an early elimination. In the post-match conference, Rays’ Brandon Lowe took a sly dig at the NY Yankees.
In the match between them and the Yankees, tensions were high between the two sets of players. As the match progressed, the aggression and frustration from players were spotted. The benches were cleared as Randy Arozarena got hit by the pitch.
The Rays are one of the high flyers this season. Despite stumbling a little, the team has been going neck and neck in the race for the top spot with the Baltimore Orioles. Lowe himself had a great game, as he went 4-for-5 with three hits including a home run.
After the game, he was asked about his thoughts on the incident and rivalry with the Yankees. He though seemed not to be bothered by them and took a subtle dig at the 40-time AL pennants winners.

Brandon Lowe sheds light on Randy Arozarena’s hit incident
Getting hit by a pitch in baseball is something pretty common. The incident is usually unintentional in most cases. There are though some times when pitchers have intentionally hit the batters. As per Randy Arozarena, he thinks NY Yankees relief pitcher Albert Abreau hit him on purpose. Tempers have flared between these two teams as Yandy Diaz has been out of action since he was hit by Jonathan Loaisiga.
This time Arozarena would have some words with Abreu. Before things could get ugly, like the Tim Anderson-Jose Ramirez saga, benches got cleared. Brandon Lowe was asked about this action and the previous hitting incidents between these two AL East rivals. He thought was in no mood to think about it and called it “not worth our time.“
He would start off by recalling how the tensions have boiled between them in the past. “It’s a last-place team against a team that’s in contention,” Lowe said before adding that the Yankees are trying to start something unnecessary. “Not worth our time this moment,” Lowe added and claimed that the team has much more important things to look forward to.
This incident was the fourth time on Sunday that the Tampa Bay Rays‘ hitter had been hit by a pitch. It was the 12th time this year that they have stuck by the Yankees pitcher. The MLB is set to review these situations regarding the two teams. Unless the Yankees have a miraculous turnaround, these two teams will not be seeing each other until April next year.
