As the all-star break kicks in, the MLB season is halfway through its conclusion. The next big event is the home-run derby. An event that takes before the ASG, it is marked with players showing off their muscle strength to launch home runs. When it comes to hitting home runs, no team is better at it this season than the Atlanta Braves. The best team in baseball right now is on a hot streak and set a new franchise record in their 10-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Rays came into the game with huge pressure on their shoulders. The team which was called the best team in baseball had started to slump down. A three-game matchup between the two best teams saw the Braves take the first two. Though they lost the third game, the Braves managed to launch another home run again. Travis’d Arnaud’s blast was the 26th straight game where they have homered.
This extraordinary stat just shows how dangerous the Braves can be. There is no surprise as they continue to get the better of their opposition time and again. Recently Sean Murphy’ launched a towering two-run shot against the Rays. That was their 167th home run of the season, as they surpassed the previous record hold by the Minnesota Twins. This is the most by any team in MLB history.
Twitter reacts to Atlanta Braves historic performance on field
Will the Atlanta Braves win the world series is something that has been on the minds of many. They are one of the favorites to do so but the way and style of their playing has been completely different to others. The other important fact has been the poor performances of some big names. While the likes of Mets, Yankees, and Dodgers, have been far from their best, the Braves are just different.
One of the stand-out players for them this season has been Ronald Acuna Jr. The star player’s historic season continues to pay dividends in the rise of the Braves. He is one of the favorites to win the National League MVP. If things continue this way, the Braves may break a few more records on the way. Here are a few reactions regarding the amazing feat achieved in their recent game against the Rays.
The next assignment for the Braves following the break will be a three-game series against the struggling Chicago White Sox. They will be expected to win, but nothing can be guaranteed. Time and again it has been witnessed that the underdogs can bite back. They head into the break with a magnificent record of 60-29, leading the National League East standings.
