“Hard to put into words”: Braves star Ozzie Albies exits showdown vs Nationals with fractured left foot
Ozzie Albies
It seems like the run finally got over for Atlanta Braves after the 25-year-old second baseman, Ozzie Albies was forced to be ruled out of their latest game on Monday against the Nationals. Having come up lame to take a swing in the fifth innings, Albies was found lying on the floor after taking just one step. He was helped to hop out of the ground later on.
With the Atlanta team trying to win their 12th consecutive game, they would surely be expecting to miss All-Star 2B Ozzie Albies for quite some time. Having endured a fine run in the 2022 season, Ozzie Albies has made his presence felt in the team with .246 with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
Many expect that a foot injury can rule out any baseman for at least 4 to 6 weeks. But if things get severe and worse, this could be a major turnaround of fate for the Braves. Albies was then replaced by veteran Orlando Arcia, who was 0-for-2 with a run scored and a walk at the time of the injury. The latter singled in his first at-bat.

Ozzie Albies break his left foot, when will he return?
“Hate it for Ozzie. Hate it for us,” said team manager Brian Snitker, who didn’t know how long Ozzie Albies will be side-lined. “He’ll be fine. He’s young, he’ll heal quick. As I said, I just hate it for the kid because he loves to play baseball and he’s such a big part of our club. It’s a chance for somebody else to do something good.”

The 25-year-old sensation is in his fifth Major League Season. He has even won a Silver Slugger award in 2019 and 2021 as well. Signed through 2025, Ozzie Albies led the National League last season in assists. He has even made two All-Star Game appearances.
“It’s something that’s hard to put into words,” Dansby Swanson said of Albies’ injury in his postgame. “He’s like my little brother, we’ve played together now for six years, we’ve been through a lot together, a lot of ups and a lot of downs. There’s not a better human being out there. Obviously, we’re thinking about him. At the end of the day, these things happen in sports and we’re going to continue to grow and get better.”
Given that the reigning World Series Champions were surging their way up from a relatively slow start in the 2022 season, Ozzie Albies’ injury status could play a huge role in deciding their position after the end of the regular season.
