The football fever has well and truly taken over across the country. With the NFL reaching its final few match weeks, the excitement for games has increased. On Sunday, the fans got the taste of another chapter of the rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. MLB superstar Bryce Harper recently found himself in the center stage of this game.

Harper is one of the most popular baseball stars on earth right now. The Philadelphia Phillies slugger’s rise to stardom has been exceptional. He is also a massive football fan and with MLB currently in the offseason, Harper took the chance before the Cowboys-Eagles clash.

In age-old rivalries of sports, it is hard to find people who switch their allegiances. However, the 2021 National League MVP seems to have done just that. Before this monumental clash of the titans, Harper would star in the Sunday Night Football broadcast and narrate the incident.

During this preview, the third baseman admitted to being a Cowboys fan as a kid. However, after moving to Philadelphia to play for the Phillies, he fell in love with the city. Harper knows loves the city of Philly more and is now more of an Eagles fan.

Bryce Harper hoping to discuss contract discussion with the Phillies

Ever since making his debut with the Philadephia Phillies, Bryce Harper has continued to impress. In the year 2019, he signed a massive $330 million, 13-year contract extension with the team. Since then he has undoubtedly proved to be worth every penny. The American international now wants to extend his stay even further.

This was perhaps evident given his love for the fans and the city. A die-hard Cowboys fan who suddenly switched his allegiance to the Eagles proves that as well. He will be 39 by the time his contract expires. He though has expressed his desire to extend his stay and his hoping for a contract extension with the Phillies.

His agent Scott Boras recently claimed that Harper had shown that he is a team player and is willing to continue beyond the expiration of his deal in 2031. Through him, Harper stated that he wants to get this thing (contract extension) off his mind and wants to play well beyond it.

This is something I want off my mind. I want to know this is done because I know that I want to play well beyond the contract that I have.

Fans are now curious to learn whether Harper’s wish will be fulfilled or not. However, this desire from him has certainly sparked joy among the Phillies faithful and the citizens of Philadelphia who now claim Harper as one of their own.
