Carlos Correa has shocked the happy San Fransisco fans to their core. The Giants’ deal was all set with the medical pending. The franchise was pitch in the press conference to announce the signing of their newest star but the deal fell off. The Correa-Giants deal was worth $350 million, 13-years.

A day later, The New York Mets grabbed the opportunity to sign the Puerto Rican shortstop in a 12-year, $315 million deal. The Mets are on their way to becoming the most expensive team in the North American sports history.

Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle tweeted, “Scott Boras tells me that after the Giants cancelled their press conference yesterday, they indicated they still wanted to negotiate about Correa. But he didn’t hear anything more from them. Twelve hours later, the Mets deal got worked out.”

“It sounds as if there was a very old Correa injury – pre MLB – that was raised as a potential issue. It has not cropped up again. None of Correa’s other physical issues have required medical intervention or ongoing treatment.”

Susan Slusser added another information regarding the trade shock, “If this was a true medical concern, it sounds a little tenuous – and if it was a matter of cold feet, that’s usually ownership. Not the front office. We won’t know what happened from their viewpoint unless or until the Giants discuss this, if they do.”

Before the Carlos Correa deal, San Fransisco were close to signing the American League Home Run King, Aaron Judge. Before Judge came back to the New York Yankees, The Giants supposedly offered him a mighty $360 million to return to the team near his hometown.

After the Carlos Correa deal, The New York Mets have committed to a total of $806.1 million to free agents. Edwin Diaz, Brandon Nimmo, Jose Quintana, Kodai Senga, Justin Verlander, Omar Narvaez, Adam Ottavino, David Robertson, and the most recent addition Carlos Correa make the list players signed as of now by Mets.
