“Very, very emotional”: Charlie Montoyo sacked; Vladimir Guerrero Jr. expressed empathy towards his former coach

On Wednesday, The Toronto Blue Jays sacked their manager Charlie Montoyo after 88 games in charge in the season. The news caused a state of shock for many Major League fans, the Puerto Rican former professional baseball second baseman and coach did not see it coming. The ballplayers felt very emotional after the news got delivered to them.
Toronto Blue Jays manager Ross Atkins elected bench coach John Schneider as interim manager in place of Charlie Montoyo for the remainder of the season. He even appointed former utility layer Casey Candaele as the team’s newest bench coach.
For Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the news of Toronto Blue Jays deciding to part ways with Charlie Montoyo was overemotional. Guerrero Jr referred to his mental state as, “Very, very emotional for me,” whereas shortstop Bo Bichette agreed with the decision taken by the Blue Jays front office, “I think we needed something to send us in the right direction,”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. said after hearing the news, “Especially with a guy like Charlie. But you’ve still got a job to do and I just prepared myself for the game and to go out there and continue to help the team win. We know that things could be better, things have to be better.
He added, “We understand what we all can do. It hasn’t really shown yet. That’s the frustrating part. But at the end of the day, we just have to show up, play hard and whatever happens, happens.”

“I believe in him still as a baseball leader, but I felt this change was necessary,” Ross Atkins said of Charlie Montoyo.
Bo Bichette was focused after the decision came out through Ross Atkins, “This is not my area to worry about. We’ll come to the field ready to play as hard as we can. The front office has made their decision on what they thought was necessary. I don’t disagree.”
