Clayton Kershaw and Freddie Freeman were only set to enjoy their All-Star break, settling in the All-Star game for it to be the moment they cherish for life. But surprisingly, the biggest moment for them came off the field. Kershaw was the National League team’s starting pitcher, yet his son took over that special moment.

When you grow up in a house so closely related to the Major League, you always get the chance to see plenty of the game and all the moments revolving around. Charley Kershaw and Charlie Freeman have been fortunate to be in a moment like this, and luckily for us we were able to get a glimpse of how the two are together.

(Quotes via Fabian Ardaya, The Athletic), Freeman said with respect to their sons, “You respect them and play against them for so long, and then you become teammates, and then I’ve tried to get my feet settled, and then he’s helping me get my feet settled. Then our kids are on the same team, so we’re outside of the field hanging out. So, I think that was huge in the process of getting comfortable here.”

This even showcased how Freeman has bonded with his teammate Kershaw, as he kept a firm case to applaud Kershaw as the National League team’s starting pitcher, “Hopefully he gets in there because he deserves it. He’s been a special pitcher for 14 years now and I’m just happy to be his teammate now. He should be able to pitch in his home stadium. He’s been pitching like an All-Star all year.”

The superstar teammates are also encouraging Little League dads, “Charley, my son, is here with Charlie Freeman a lot,” Kershaw said, basking in the honor of finally earning his first start in his ninth trip to the Midsummer Classic. “They are playing baseball together.”

“(Our) kids playing baseball,” Freeman said, “there’s nothing better than that.”
