The Texas Rangers finally achieved their long-lasting dream. On Wednesday night, they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 to win the World Series. A key figure in this triumph was their shortstop Corey Seager. The former LA Dodgers man was named the World Series MVP for his performances. He has now taken a massive shot at rival Alex Bregman during the Rangers World Series title celebration.
The Rangers were involved in a huge battle this year with their state rivals, the Houston Astros. The 2022 champions were able to edge them out of the division title. During this celebration, Bregman made a reference to the iconic speech of popular music star Ye aka Kanye West at the Grammys.
Taking a page out of this book, the Astros man said:
"A lot of people were wondering what it was going to be if the Stros didn't win the division. I guess we'll never know."
This came out on the final day of the season when the Astros won the division above the Rangers. They two meet each other in an enthralling all-timer ALCS series. The Rangers now have the last laugh this season. This is what Corey Seager said at the Parade day of the Rangers:
"Everyone was wondering what would happen if the Rangers didn't win the World Series. I guess we'll never know."
Corey Seager becomes fourth player to win multiple World Series MVPs
The World Series is the pinnacle of MLB. The best-of-seven series between the two League Championship winners determines the world champions of the MLB. This year it was the Texas Rangers who were crowned champions. Their shortstop Corey Seager’s performance played a huge part in it. The 29-year-old is now just the fourth player to win the World Series MVP on two occasions.
His first came in the shortened 2020 season that finally saw the LA Dodgers break their 32-year drought. For his impressive showing against the Tampa Bay Rays that year, he was named the MVP. Since the award’s inception in 1955, only three players before have won this prestigious honor multiple times.
Seager now joins an exclusive list of MLB Hall of Famers, Reggie Jackson, Sandy Koufax, and Bob Gibson to win this award twice. He also became the second player after Jackson to win this award while playing for two teams. Jackson won with the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees, whereas Seager wins it with the Rangers and Dodgers now.
All these achievements have made him an outright candidate for the Hall of Fame. It is very likely that he will become a part of this huge class once he calls it a day on his career. Fans would be hoping he can continue to deliver performances like this as the Rangers hope to retain their crown next year.
