The holiday fever has well and truly hit the US. As the year comes to an end, people are coming together to celebrate the festivities. In this period two former New York Yankees legends Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada reunited to celebrate Christmas.

The two members of the “Core Four” of the Yankees were seen enjoying the festival together. Jeter and Posada’s reunion at this time was something fans on social media were not expecting. The two MLB greats got into the festive act while donning their finest pairs of pajamas.

Jeter would later share some images of their celebration. The two former teammates were seen wearing inflatable reindeer ears and some festive nightwear. While Jeter opted for a simple pattern, Posada wore a unique one with the costume reading, “What the Elf?“. Check out the images shared by the MLB Hall of Famer on his X account:

While these two enjoyed their time together, some were wondering where were the other two members of their group. Andy Pettitte was seen enjoying Christmas with his family. However, there was no information on how Mariano Rivera spent his festive time.

Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada’s evergreen friendship over the years

Over the years gone by, there have been countless tales about the friendship of Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada. The two have had a strong bond with each other for a long time. The duo came through the ranks together at the New York Yankees and enjoyed a lot of success together.

Their friendship spans over more than 20 years, and now they have become more of a family than just friends. One prime example of this relationship between the two Yankee greats was seen in the year 2000 when Jeter served as the best man at Posada’s wedding.

In his book, “Jeter Unfiltered“, the former Yankees captain revealed a hilarious story about how he and Posada would go on to enjoy some junk food without informing their nutritionist.

I used to always look for Jorge Posada first when I showed up for Spring Training because he was my closest friend on the team. He and I had a Spring Training tradition: On the last day we would order a bunch of Hooters chicken wings, then we’d drive to Baskin-Robbins and get ice cream. Not exactly what a nutritionist would advise, but we weren’t telling.

The friendship has gotten tighter over the years with their families spending vacations together. One interesting fact is that Posada shares his birthday with Jeter’s first-born daughter and was thus named her godfather. It is safe to assume that there are several more such stories between the two baseball icons that are yet to be explored.
