“Happy 50th bday” Derek Jeter in a rib-tickling twitter spat with former teammate CC Sabathia
Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia
Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia have an enormous backstory when it comes to being a part of the New York Yankees. Jeter has had the privilege of spending all his 19 pro years with the Yankees meanwhile Sabathia spent 10 years with the Yankees. They both have World Series Championship to their names.
Derek Jeter’s glory days with the New York Yankees can’t be camouflaged. A 14-time All-Star, a World Series MVP including the Rookie of the Year award in the same year and to sum it all up, the man has won five World Series titles (one with Sabathia) in his premium career. CC Sabathia on the other hand is a six-time All-Star and won an American League Championship Series MVP award in 2009.
On CC Sabathia’s 42nd birthday, Jeter decided to sneer at his former teammate, wishing him on Twitter “Happy 50th bday my brother! CC Sabathia.” To which Sabathia had a cracking reply, “I’m not 50 cuz…FOH.”

Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia’s twitter bickering was too funny for words
Their conversation went on when Sabathia followed up his tweet with, “Thank you my brother Derek Jeter! I’m bout to come over there and delete your account. Now go back to watching your doc (it’s fire btw).”
Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia have played together for six long seasons, bringing home the 2009 World Series. Jeter retired in 2014 and Sabathia played for the Yankees for five more seasons. They have always been making jokes about each other which is why the fans felt Jeter wrote “50th bday” instead of “42nd bday” on purpose.
Derek Jeter and Sabathia are clearly very close to each other, in fact, it was Sabathia who helped shed some light on Jeter’s abrupt exit from the Miami Marlins earlier this year. “I know Jeter wanted him bad,” Sabathia said of Castellanos. “The Marlins are the Marlins. No matter what you try to do to make them better, at the end of the day there’s just always been bad ownership.”
Sabathia added, “Jeter did everything he could, he lined everything up for him and this is the year you sign Castellanos. The minor league organization is great, but it’s just time to spend money.”
