“A walk-off wild pitch”: DJ LeMahieu calls his birthday big league walk-off pretty fun

DJ LeMahieu is also known as New York Yankees’ do-it-all man. He is an extremely matter-of-fact guy. All he does is hit, field, and chew tobacco, doesn’t it sound insane? Media questions is an issue that DJ LeMahieu faced quite trouble with, answering without knowing what’s happening around.

Recently DJ LeMahieu was put up to questions and answer with media, Yankees magazine was after him after his wild walk-off given away to Cincinnati Reds reliever Alexis Diaz. He faced on Wednesday night in the Bronx, when the Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds were tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 10th.

At the end of the interview, LeMahieu gave a series of milquetoast answers, he straight up admitted he was an awful quote, saying “sorry, I’m like the worst person for these.”

DJ LeMahieu could have easily guessed after the kind of play he put in at the end off the match, in was inevitable for him to face the media.

DJ LeMahieu was introduced on to the diamond on second base as the ghost runner, moved to third on a wild pitch from Cincinnati Reds reliever Alexis Diaz. A few pitches later, Diaz let one get away again, allowing LeMahieu to score the game’s winning run. He was exhilarated with his performance.

“It’s a good birthday,” said LeMahieu with a subdued smirk postgame. “I always say, ‘I get to play in the big leagues on my birthday, so that’s good enough.’ But a walk-off like this … pretty fun.”

“I really think he’s done better than his numbers suggest. You sometimes just watch his at-bats in big spots, ahead of Judge, understanding where he is in the lineup. We overuse the term professional hitter but it’s so fitting [with LeMahieu],” said manager Aaron Boone. “He gives you such a pro at-bat. He’s so good in the field with the versatility to play all those different positions. He’s been really consistent this year and [I’m] excited about how he’s played.”
