“Deserving or not”- Controversy sparked as Dr. Anthony S. Fauci honored with the Hutch Award
Dr. Anthony S. Fauci receiving the Hutch Award
The honorary Hutch Award for 2022 will be given to Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the President’s chief medical advisor. Before the Mariners’ game on August 9 at T-Mobile Park, Fauci will receive that honour in an on-field ceremony before he throws out the ceremonial first pitch. Things got off to a shaky start as the audience began to boo at the first mention of his name.
Regarding the pitch, Fauci’s form seems to have improved since his most recent, less-than-pleasant outing on the MLB mound. The Hutch Award is presented “as one of the top annual awards given to a Major League Baseball player” according to the company’s site.
The Hutch Award- What is it?
The Hutch award “recognizes the player who best exemplifies the fighting spirit and competitive desire of Fred Hutchinson, the legendary pitcher and manager who died of cancer at the age of 45.”In a meeting with 100 employees of the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, Fauci shouted out Americans who had questioned his counsel while also sharing encouraging COVID news, such as, “We are expecting another surge in the fall.”
“It’s still amazing to me that people can still hold onto such untruths. They have so much going on in their lives, that they just accept it as fact,” Fauci shared. He cannot erase the mistakes Fauci has made on vaccinations, rigorous lockdowns, and the health of those who have not received vaccinations.
