“That’s all I can say legally”: Eduardo Escobar expected to be in deep trouble due to ‘Non-Workplace Event’

When New York Mets infielder Eduardo Escobar missed the showdown on Thursday against the Brewers, not many expected it to be a wild cause. However, when manager Buck Showalter referred to the absence of his star as a ‘non-workplace event,’ there seems to be immense drama unfolding in the coming days.

As per Showalter, the team would themselves have a clearer idea about the incident on Friday. Moreover, he cited HIPAA laws whilst explaining why he could not comment further on the matter. Although Escobar does not seem to linger from any medical issue. What’s making the matter even worse, is that GM Billy Epler and even a spokesperson refused to opinionate on the same.

The 33-year-old infield sensation, Eduardo Escobar is slashing .236/.301/.397 with 5 home runs in 60 games. Given that his performance can cause the Mets to emerge victorious on any other day, it surely could prove to be a huge miss if the situation gets serious.

While addressing the issue, the manager also noted that he checked in multiple times with the team trainers about Eduardo Escobar’s status during the Mets’ most recent 5-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. But when asked directly if the infielder was injured, Buck Showalter blatantly declined to comment.

Furthermore, New York Mets general manager Billy Eppler also declined comment, as did a team spokesman. Escobar did not appear in the Mets’ dugout during the game.

“That’s all I can really say legally,” Showalter said. Asked if Escobar might be available for Friday’s series opener against the Marlins, Showalter replied, “I don’t know yet. We’ll let the people that handle him in the medical profession do their job, and then they’ll let us know.”

That being said, Showalter indicated that he was seeking clarity on an unidentified injured player before the game started. As a result of which, the Mets did not release their line-up until about 90 minutes before game time. Ahead of the next matchup, will there be more drama about Escobar’s absence as the speculations rise higher than ever?
