“I’m ready to let you go”: Edwin Jackson announces retirement after 17 seasons, recording 14 different MLB teams

Edwin Jackson announced via Instagram on Friday that his Major League Baseball career will have no further matches, the announcement was made on his 39th birthday and his 19th Major league debut anniversary. Jackson played for a record 14 different teams and won the 2011 World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Edwin Jackson played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays, in his 17-season long career.

“Today I am happily hanging up my cleats,” Edwin Jackson said in his social media post. “I’m super grateful to have had 14 different organizations allow me the opportunity to represent them.”

Edwin Jackson went 107-133 with a 4.78 ERA in 412 games, he was famous for his no-hitter pitched on June 25, 2010. But the game on 25th June of that year was not very pretty, somehow Jackson manages to walk eight players.

“It says I have a lot of perseverance,” Edwin Jackson continued. “I’m not one to give in. I feel like out of those 14 teams, some of those teams have had situations that would probably make people want to go home and quit and cry. For me, the tougher it gets the harder I work and the harder I come to prove myself that I can come get outs in the major leagues.”

Hedwin Jackson finished up his career in Tokyo, making two appearances out of the bullpen for Team USA. When the 2022 MLB season started, he did not sign with any of the team, the fans now see the reason behind his actions. He struck out 1,508 batters in 1,960 innings.
