While MLB fans continue to turn their attention towards the ongoing World Series matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers, a new development from elsewhere has shifted some gazes. The Atlanta Braves and Jorge Soler are now being sued by a fan for an incident in 2021.
Soler, now at the Miami Marlins finds himself at the center of controversy for something he did during 2021. While many are surprised by this sudden decision by the fan, the two parties are now under probe.
This is probably not how many would have imagined to recall Soler’s time at the club. He played a key part in that 2021 World Series winning run. His three home runs and six RBIs with a batting average of .300 saw him being named the MVP of the Fall Classic. However, his action of throwing the ball in the stands during World Series Game 3 has brought back conversation about his time as a Braves player.
The fan identified as Marya Norris has now filed a lawsuit and sued the player and the team for the facial damage and hardship she had to suffer. This development was first shared on X by an account named “Braves moves and rumors“. How much has the fan sued them for though is something that has not been determined yet.
What did the lawsuit against Jorge Soler read?
As per the reports from CBS Sports, the fan who sued Jorge Soler is a woman. She and her husband both were present in the stands during the game. Now she is seeking an undetermined amount for the damages and the medical bills she had to pay.
"Defendant Soler did not softly toss the ball into the stands to the crowd. He threw the ball overhand, with a great deal of speed and force. Defendant Soler threw the ball with such force and speed that it hit Ms. Norris directly in her right eye causing extensive and excruciating injury to her right eye".The lawsuit as per CBS Sports
Following this, she was given medical treatment at the stadium. MLB teams have been known for warning the fans about possible hits from balls while they attend games at the ballpark. So far neither Soler nor the Braves have said anything regarding this matter. How this development pans out going forward remains to be seen.
