Justin Turner’s debut season for the Boston Red Sox is not going as pleasant as expected. In the last game on Monday against the Detroit Tigers, Turner was hit in the face by a fast pitch by Tigers’ Matt Manning. Turner was hit during the first innings of the game, leaving him covered in blood over his face.

A medical team immediately rushed to the scene of an emergency and assisted the former Dodgers and Mets man to the hospital. He is currently receiving treatment for the same and is also being monitored for concussion. A statement that followed said, โ€œHe (Justin) will undergo further testing, and weโ€™ll update as we have more information. Justin is stable, alert, and in good spirits given the circumstances.โ€

Turner has kept his fans updated on his current health condition through his social media platform. He reposted an Instagram story of his wife Kourtney Turner who wrote, “Thank you to everyone that reached out about Justin and sent prayers. We’re home now and he‘s resting (okay-maybe listening to the replay of the game).”

Turner has received 16 stitches from this injury and has incurred swelling on his face. However, there were no signs of fractures and all the necessary scans returned clear for the Red Sox third baseman.

Although Matt Manning’s pitch came in as quite daunting for Justin Turner, the Detroit Tigers pitcher is very much concerned and apologetic about his rival colleague in the league. In his apology, Manning said to the reporters that his pitch was not intentional. He says, โ€œIt was a complete accident; ball just got away. I got a swing and miss on a ball kind of up in the zone, so I tried to go back to it, and it just got away from me.โ€

Although the Red Sox won Monday night’s game 7-1, Justin Turner’s fans were not satisfied with the response from the Red Sox management during the night of the incident. Turner recently moved to the Red Sox from Los Angeles Dodgers on a $22 million deal during the off-season. He had previously spent nine years with the Dodgers and had some major stints with the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Mets.

One fan writes about how the Red Sox failed to take care of Justin Turner when he had to face such a brutal incident. The comments to this tweet claimed that Turner would never have to face such an incident if he were still with the Dodgers.

A New York Mets fan, who obviously would have an inclination for Justin Turner given his stint at the franchise writes about the fatality of pitching in current times. They mention how pitchers fail to learn the art of pitching which results in zero control and scary HPB at-bats.

The Red Sox fans have started bantering on social media about the fails and losses of the team in the current times. Justin Turner’s injury comes at a crucial standpoint for the Red Sox when they are already struggling to maintain form in the league. The fan calls Turner a warrior and believes that the Sox will be fine later in the season.

Dodgers manager Dave ‘Doc’ Roberts was also concerned about Turner’s condition following this massive hit. He says, “It was scary. I shot him a text right when it happened. Hopefully he’s fine, haven’t heard since. But that’scary thing for everybody.”

Everyone is quite appreciative of Turner’s fighter spirit and claims that his cheekbones are made of titanium while his heart is made of gold.

The whole MLB and sporting fraternity have joined hands to wish a speedy recovery for Justin Turner and for him to return back to the season, stronger than ever.
