Following his heinous action and conviction in the child sex abuse case, Ex-Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez was deported to Venezuela. The officials confirmed this development last week.
The defamed two-time All-Star pitcher has been under the wrath of the fans since he was caught. His actions left the baseball world shocked as he was labeled as one of the best pitchers in the league.
The ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia removed him from the city and deported him to Venezuela on December 1. Since this news broke, the fans have been cheering with joy while slamming the southpaw for his crimes. The ERO in their statement applauded the efforts of the officials who deported the former MLB star.

For the unversed, Vazquez was born as Felipe Rivero. He would later legally change his surname to Vazquez and stated that it was his sister’s name. He claimed her to be his biggest supporter.
Vazquez was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison for statutory sexual assault and was given two years of additional probation. He was arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old and having an intimate relationship with the child. Further charges were slammed on him when investigators found evidence of child pornography on his phone and laptop.
Felipe Vazquez’s MLB career
Before any of this development took place, Felipe Vazquez was regarded as one of the rising stars of the game. He had become a nightmare to the opposition pitcher on the field. However, at that point, very few would have predicted what was supposed to happen to him and what steps he would take later on.
In his MLB career, he appeared for the Washington Nationals and then the Pittsburgh Pirates. He would spend two seasons with the Nationals. During the 2016 season, his ERA would rise astronomically. He though was able to bring it down to 4.53. Following this season, he was traded to the Pirates, where he shined.
He was able to impress the fans with his performances as a setup reliever. During the 2018 season, he signed a contract extension and was named as an All-Star for the prestigious mid-season event. Next year he again made the game, this time though as a replacement. At that moment, he seemed to be the perfect guy for the Pirates. Fast forward to 2023, and he has now been thrown off US land.
His arrest in 2019 changed his entire life. Now on the restricted list of the Pirates and the MLB and his deportation to Venezuela, it is safe to say that his career is over. He finishes with a 17-13 Win/Loss record with an ERA of 2.61 and 402 strikeouts.
This development serves as a timely reminder that no one is above the law and that every action has its consequences. Had Varquez been able to control his inner demons, he could have enjoyed a successful baseball career.
