In the fast-paced world of media, there is very little margin of error. Renowned media outlet Fox News recently was reminded of this when they accidentally listed MLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas as dead.
On Friday morning during their show, “The Faulker Focus“, the media network ran a special video tribute to honor the legacy of those who passed away in 2023. During this segment, they accidentally listed the wrong Frank Thomas as dead. The former Chicago White Sox later blasted the network for this huge error.

While they got the name right, the person they featured in the segment was wrong. The White Sox legend like many others was not pleased with this. He would take to his X account and label the outlet as “irresponsible” and quickly shut the talks of him being dead.
Ladies and Gentlemen I’m very sorry my ex employer Fox would be this irresponsible on National TV this morning. Yes I’m alive and doing well. This blows my mind also.Frank Thomas attacking Fox News for listing him as dead on X.
Fox News issues apology after wrongly reporting the death of Frank Thomas
As soon as the news broke out, fans were left shocked. Some even started paying their respects to “the Big Hurt” Frank Thomas as many thought he had actually passed away. The network soon realized their error and issued an apology for this huge slip-up.

The on-air news anchor would acknowledge their error and quickly correct the news. In their statement, Fox said:
We need to issue a correction in the in-memoriam feature that we showed just a few minutes ago. We misidentified the late Frank Thomas, the three-time All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Frank Thomas...is very much still alive. We apologize for that mistake.Fox News apologizing for their mistake.
Another surprising point is that Thomas served as an MLB analyst for Fox for over a decade. This mistake by the network has not gone down well among the audiences who have since then brutally trolled them.
Thomas is regarded as one of the best designated hitters of his time and is among the few players who have hit over 500 home runs in their career. The 55-year-old great played for three teams but spent the majority of his career with the White Sox where he accomplished several personal accolades.
He finished his career with a high batting average of .301. In this time as a DH, Thomas batted in 1,704 runs while collecting 2,468 hits. He was also named the American League MVP for two seasons in a row in 1993 and 1994 and was a five-time All-Star as well. For all these performances for the franchise, his No.35 jersey was retired by the team in 2009. His biggest achievement though came in 2014 when he was named in the MLB Hall of Fame.
