In the highly anticipated clash between NL division leaders Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves, Freddie Freeman was left emotional. For the second year running, the current Dodger man received a warm welcome to Atlanta, a place he called home for many years. The Truist Park on Monday saw to it that their former star man got the hero’s reception he deserves.
Prior to his first at-bat, the first baseman got huge applause from the Braves fans at the park. The ovation increased when Freeman showed his love back to the home crowd. The current Dodger man spent 12 years in Atlanta and was a key figure in their World Series victory back in 2021. While appearing for the Braves, Freeman was named to the All-Star squad five times and also won the 2020 MVP award.
While the atmosphere surrounding the return of Freeman was high, it was time to get serious and professional. He would perhaps go on to break a few Braves’ hearts as he launched a three-run go-ahead home run to give the Dodgers the lead. This followed by two home runs from J.D Martinez helped the Dodgers take the first game of this series by a score of 8-6.

Freddie Freeman continues to deliver for the Dodgers in 2023 season
The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most popular teams in MLB. So to have some big star names playing for them is no surprise. The organization has been renowned for its spending in the transfer market. There was a huge buzz around the announcement of Freddie Freeman in 2022. He had just won the World Series with the Atlanta Braves and a move to LA seemed perfect.
Freeman has since then repaid the faith put on him by the franchise. He has continued to play with consistency ever since swapping Atlanta for LA. According to a stat by BarStool Baseball, Freddie Freeman has played 207 games out of the 210 possible since signing with the Dodgers last year. In that time he has been batting with an average of .324 along with an OBP and SLG of .404 and .520 respectively.
When the Dodgers lost the likes of Cody Bellinger, Trea Turner and Justin Turner, many thought it would be a big blow to them. So far Freeman and Co have kept the car running for the Dodgers. They are currently 30-19, top of their NL West division despite suffering a bump at the start of the season. Freeman has been the key to them and with nine home runs already under his belt, fans would be hoping he continues to deliver at this pace.
