“I prematurely reported”: Freddie Freeman’s agent asked for pardon by Doug Gottlieb, retracted his impetuous report about trade

Doug Gottlieb, Casey Close and Freddie Freeman
On Wednesday, Freddie Freeman trade case reopened as it was Doug Gottlieb’s turn to apologize to Major League Baseball agent Casey Close for spreading an unsubstantial report that the Braves were the one’s who offered a much better contract to Freddie but the offer wasn’t revealed to him by his agent.
Doug Gottlieb is a host for Fox Sports Radio shows, on June 29th 2022 he tweeted that “Casey Close never told Freddie Freeman about the Braves final offer.” The tweet created a lot of drama on social media and Casey Close was humiliated on twitter.
“On June 29, I commented on alleged circumstances surrounding Freddie Freeman’s negotiations with the Atlanta Braves and his relationship with his former agent Casey Close. While I always strive to report accurate information,” Doug apologized to Freddie Freeman’s agent on Twitter.
Doug Gottlieb added, “I prematurely reported on these events and simply got it wrong. Upon further vetting of my sources, a review of the lawsuit filed against me in this matter, and a direct conversation with Casey himself, I have learned that the conduct I alleged did not occur and there is no credible basis for stating that it did,”
Freddie Freeman settled in for the Dodgers but agent Casey Close and Radio host Doug Gottlieb still have matters to be solved

Doug Gottlieb continued his apology as the damage done towards Freddie Freeman’s agent was irreversible, “My ultimate investigation into this matter confirms that Casey Close did, in fact, communicate all offers to Freddie Freeman and the sources I relied on were incorrect, in no uncertain terms.”
“I appreciate the damage that misinformation like this can cause and have been in touch with Casey Close to apologize directly. I have also deleted my original tweet.” This happened after Casey Close sued Gottlieb for libel in July.
After the Freddie Freeman trade revelations, Casey Close and his agency were raging over the initial report and defended themselves by calling the report false, inaccurate and “reckless” in a series of statements.
Kevin A. Fritz, the attorney for Casey Close did confirm that the lawsuit which continued for more than 2 months and was still open as of Wednesday afternoon will now be dropped in the wake of Gottlieb’s retraction.
